How fitness trainer Joshua Dais effectively grew his business

growing business as a fitness trainer

Joshua Dais works as a fitness trainer at Body Zone Key West. With a background in sports medicine, Joshua’s passion is to help people with traumatic injuries recover after the physical therapy sessions. Here’s the story about how he built up his personal trainer business. Enjoy! 🙂

1. Who or what inspired you to become a personal trainer, and how did you end up starting your business?

My own experience while trying to lose weight inspired me to become a personal trainer. I started out as a janitor at the first gym I worked at. A little over a year later, I managed to lose 120lbs thanks to the free membership that came with the job.

From that point, I realized I had the potential for so much more, and I found myself working for multiple facilities, as well as a hospital-owned site. With the increased workload, I found Goldie to manage my schedule, and everything became easier to manage.

2. What were the challenges you’ve faced in growing your business, and how did you overcome them?

The challenges I’ve faced and overcame were to build my business through advertisement. You have to work a little bit more and promote yourself until people know about the services you provide. I’ve overcome this challenge by using the app to manage my day-to-day operations and allotting time for things to be completed.

3. How do you differentiate yourself in the market?

I have a special niche that I market to. My background is in sports medicine, so the bulk of my clientele have traumatic injuries/medical conditions. They come to me after physical therapy sessions, and I help them bridge the gap between physical therapy and daily exercise.

4. What part of your business are you improving? (branding, clientele, technique, etc.)

I’m improving on reaching a wider audience through social media. Goldie has helped manage client slots, as well as building a household name. I want to be someone you’ve heard of as soon as you find yourself in the same city as me. In brief, I’m working hard to build a professional image.

5. What advice do you have for any new or upcoming personal trainers?

My advice is to reach out and surround yourself with those who have put in countless hours. Stay next to real professionals in the fitness industry. Absorb everything they have to offer. Most importantly, remember that if you want to go quickly to the fitness industry, do it alone. If you want to go far, build a quality team/network.

6. How is Goldie helping you?

With Goldie, I can manage my day-to-day operations without worrying. I can notify, show appreciation post sessions, and even keep track of earnings with just a few clicks.

Combine your natural ability with a mission to help people and you will have a rich, fulfilling life.” – Bryan Krahn
