Here’s Alex’s professional story. Hope you’ll enjoy it as much as we do! 🙂

1. Who or what inspired you to become a chiropractor and how did you end up starting your business?

My Dad inspired me to become a chiropractor. He graduated from chiropractic college in 1992, when I was 3 years old. He had a very successful practice that I joined in 2012 upon my graduation. When I was 16, I had this horrendous pain in my head. I remember talking on the phone to my boyfriend when this pain hit one day. Out of nowhere. I couldn’t stand it. I couldn’t walk. I was literally on the floor for hours because I couldn’t even open my eyes or the pain would get worse.

My Dad found me on the floor when he got home from work and after examining me he adjusted my neck. An hour later, I was pain-free and have since never had that pain again. I knew I wanted to be a chiropractor at that moment when I was 16. Because it changed my life.

2. What were the challenges you’ve faced in growing your business and how did you overcome them?

Health insurance has been my #1 challenge. People pay good money for their health care coverage and the majority of it has a sky-high deductible or minimal chiropractic benefits. Therefore when you go to your chiropractor, most of the time you have to pay more than just your copay. Either deductibles or lack of benefits hinders people from getting the treatment they need at a cost they can afford.

I overcame this hurdle by starting a non-insurance practice. This way, everyone pays the same low-cost amount and gets the treatment they need and can afford. I also travel to patients that cannot come to me at my office. Not being tied down to the paperwork nightmare that is modern medicine due to insurance companies need for constant proof and paperwork, I have the freedom I need. With a schedule on my cell phone and a table I haul around in my car, I can see the patient at their convenience, at a price that they happily pay.

3. How do you differentiate yourself in the market?

Convenience and affordability. Can’t get away from work in order to see the chiropractor? I can come to you. Most visits are less than 15 minutes so bosses don’t even have their employees clock out when they’re being adjusted. It’s only $30 for a full body adjustment. Do you need to come to my office? It’s still just $30 and you have a GUARANTEE of less than a 10-minute wait or your visit is on the house! I no longer have to make insurance companies happy with constant paperwork. I can concentrate on making patients happy with the care they desperately need and deserve.

4. What part of your business are you improving? (branding, clientele, technique, etc.)

I am improving patient education and communication. I was able to hire my first employee since starting Mobile Chiro and it has really helped. I am no longer constantly interrupted by my phone ringing with patients wanting to schedule or having questions. I hired someone to answer my phone and schedule, then she forwards the calls to me if the patients have a question. It has cut down on interruptions and I can now focus 100% on patient care.

5. What advice do you have for any new or upcoming chiropractor?

Work for the patient, not yourself. Whether you accept insurance or not, have their best interest at heart and you’ll never go broke!

6. How is Goldie helping you?

I was in practice with my Dad 2012-2018. In 2018, he got sick. At this point we took insurance, we had a storefront that was very expensive to maintain. With insurance cuts and my Dad being out of the practice due to his health, we had to sell it. I ended up renting a little one-room office and starting my own cash practice.

Shortly after, my dad passed away. This sent me into a tailspin where I literally put every waking moment into building this business. I did a google search trying to find good scheduling apps that wouldn’t require me to give my personal cell number to every patient that thought they might want a consultation. This led me to Goldie.

When I had an insurance-based practice, I saw 10-15 patients per day and was required by law to have a $16,000 system for scheduling, billing, and insurance payments. As of now, I see 25-30 patients per day and only use Goldie for scheduling. No required billing software because it’s all self-pay! I am so thankful to Goldie for having this technology to text and remind patients of their appointments. My no-show rates are less than 2%. I give all the credit to Goldie for that. Now I have the freedom to go see my patients wherever they need me, have minimal no-shows, and a very successful business.
